HISTORY:

Nubian goats were originally refered to as the Anglo-Nubians and were a cross between the British goats with bucks from Africa and India and originated in England. The Anglo-Nubian was bred for meat, milk and hide production because the goats in Africa and India had something that the goats in England did not. Their mile has a high average butter fat content between 4 and 5 percent and has a much longer breeding season. The common colors are black, red and tan which may have white patterns within but there are also parti-colored and other solid color nubians that are permitted. An adult doe should stand at least 30 inches at the withers and may weigh 135 pounds or more and the males should stand 35 inches at the withers and weigh at least 175 pounds. The strong characteristics of a Nubian are convex bone structure between the eyes and the muzzle.
